This revolutionary mattress is not made with springs or any other materials that are traditionally used in mattress-making. It contains a thick viscoelastic foam, called memory foam, which moulds to the shape of an individual’s body and slowly returns to its initial shape when the pressure is removed.
Memory foam was originally invented by NASA in the 1970’s for aircraft-safety reasons and it was industrialized in the 1980’s, mainly due to its ability to form to the exact shape of the object that applies pressure on it.
This mattress can perfectly react to your movements as it is designed to absorb them and it is temperature-sensitive which means that your body heat softens the memory foam, making it more viscous and allowing you to sink in. That is the reason why it is not recommended for people with a high body mass index (>30) as their weight may cause the mattress to sink more than the desired amount resulting in discomfort.
